Break policy that explains itself.
ZoikoTime configures your break and rest rules once, applies them consistently across every shift, and keeps a reviewable record of what happened — with a human in the loop on every exception.
Break & Rest Operations Center
Governance infrastructure, not workplace surveillance.
ZoikoTime records whether a configured break or rest period happened as scheduled. It does not watch what a worker does during that time, and it does not decide discipline on its own.
What this is
- A configured record of scheduled vs. taken breaks
- A shared, transparent view for worker and reviewer alike
- A place for workers to flag and correct a record
- An evidence trail a human reviewer signs off on
What this isn't
- Location or GPS tracking during a break
- Screenshots, keystroke logging, or activity capture
- A productivity or performance score
- An automatic disciplinary decision
How does ZoikoTime handle breaks and rest?
ZoikoTime applies your configured break and rest policy to every shift, records whether each break was Scheduled, Taken, Under Review, or resolved as an Exception, and routes anything irregular to a human reviewer. Workers can see their own records and request a correction at any time. ZoikoTime does not guarantee legal compliance and does not replace legal counsel — it gives your team a consistent, evidenced way to apply the policy you've configured.

Break rules are rarely just one rule.
Meal and rest requirements shift by jurisdiction, industry, shift length, and sometimes by collective agreement — often within the same company.
Jurisdictional variation
Meal and rest thresholds differ by state, province, or country, and change more often than most policy documents do.
Shift and role variation
A 4-hour retail shift and a 12-hour warehouse shift rarely follow the same break structure, even under one employer.
Negotiated terms
Collective bargaining agreements can add requirements on top of statutory minimums for specific worker groups.
From configured policy to reviewable record.
The same pipeline runs for every worker, every shift — nothing is applied ad hoc.
- STEP 1
Policy configured
Your team sets break and rest rules by jurisdiction, role, or agreement.
- STEP 2
Applied to schedules
Rules attach automatically to shifts as they're built or change.
- STEP 3
Recorded as worked
Actual break activity is captured against the scheduled rule.
- STEP 4
Reviewed & evidenced
Irregularities route to a reviewer; the outcome joins the audit trail.
Every break record moves through the same states.
This ribbon is the backbone of the product — it's how workers, reviewers, and auditors all read the same record the same way.
The policy engine has assigned a break or rest window to this shift.
Activity was recorded against the scheduled window.
The record didn't match the policy cleanly and is waiting on a reviewer.
A reviewer verified the record matches policy — no further action needed.
The record is flagged as short, missed, or late, pending resolution.
The exception has a documented outcome and is closed with evidence attached.
Every rule traces back to a source.
Policy configuration in ZoikoTime is never a black box — each rule shows where it came from and who set it.
Jurisdiction packs
Pre-built rule sets your team reviews and enables per location.
Agreement terms
Collective bargaining or company policy terms layered on top.
Manual configuration
Custom rules your admin team enters directly, with a named owner.
This isn't legal advice.
Jurisdiction packs are a starting point for your team and counsel to review — ZoikoTime doesn't determine what the law requires for your business.

Workers see their own record, not a black box.
Every worker can open their own break and rest history, understand what state a record is in, and raise a correction — without going through a manager first.
- Plain-language view of each break record
- One-tap correction requests with a note
- Status updates as a record moves through review
Reviewers see context, not just a flag.
Managers, HR, and compliance reviewers work from the same queue, with the scheduled rule, the recorded activity, and any worker note side by side before they decide.
- Shared queue across managers, HR, and compliance
- Every decision requires a note before it's saved
- No auto-approval — a person confirms or resolves

Policy configuration, versioned like code.
Admins publish policy changes with an effective date, and every prior version stays available for audit.

Flagged
Record deviates from the scheduled policy — routed to Under Review automatically.
Notified
Worker and reviewer are both notified — the worker can add context immediately.
Escalated (if needed)
Unresolved or recurring exceptions can be routed to HR or compliance.
Resolved
A reviewer records the outcome; the evidence trail is closed with a note attached.
What ZoikoTime does not do.
Being clear about the edges of this product is part of how we earn trust with HR, legal, and the workers whose records live here.
Exportable evidence, controlled access.
Reporting here is deliberately light — the full evidence catalog, access classes, and request workflow live on our Procurement & Legal Resources page.
Audit exports
Break and rest history exports scoped by location, date range, or worker.
Access controls
Role-based visibility — reviewers see their scope, not the whole company.
Retention windows
Configurable retention aligned to your policy and regional requirements.
Change history
Every policy edit and every record decision is timestamped and attributed.
